Friends & Church Family!
Merry Christmas! Michele and I want to express our sincere appreciation for all the beautiful cards, gifts, and words of encouragement we have received during pastor appreciation and this Christmas season. We are overwhelmed by the expressions of love and care we have experienced.
Here's a little reminder: Lockhart Church is hosting our Christmas Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve at 5:00 PM in the auditorium. We will read the Christmas story, light the final advent candle, recite the Nicene Creed, sing Christmas Carols, and celebrate the Lord's Supper. Invite your family, neighbors, and friends. We realize many families gather and open presents on Christmas Eve so that the service will end by 6:00 PM.
The Personnel Committee wants to thank everyone who contributed to the Staff Christmas Offering. Each year, we do this to express our appreciation for the staff's hard work and faithful service. As a result, we received slightly over $2500. Carolyn Green, our financial secretary, will divide this offering among the staff and their families.
Finally, the Finance Committee wants to remind everyone that end-of-the-year tithes and offerings need to reach the office by Wednesday, December 29, so that we can deposit your gifts into the bank before the end of the year. Unfortunately, we cannot receive tithes and offerings after the end of the year and post them retroactively.
This Sunday falls on the weekend before Christmas, so we will be singing Christmas Carols and reading the Christmas story. I am reminded of the melody which proclaims, "Joy to the World, the Lord has Come!" Let this thought brighten your holiday season with the knowledge that we will celebrate Jesus Christ throughout eternity in heaven with Him.
Because He lives,
Pastor Rob
The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin, The Light of the world is Jesus! Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in; The Light of the world is Jesus! o Refrain: Come to the light, ’tis shining for thee; Sweetly the light has dawned upon me; Once I was blind, but now I can see: The Light of the world is Jesus!
